Dino & Debbie Roussos in Athens, Greece
Dino’s roots of faith began when his father became a Christian in 1963 after being hired by a missionary to be a translator. At age 17, Dino was baptized and began to preach. He came to the US to attend ACU, and there earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. While at ACU, Dino met Debbie Brown and they married in 1977. Prestoncrest met them in 1982 when George Bailey (former PC minister) introduced us to them, and Prestoncrest soon began supporting their ministry.
Even though the State Religion in Greece is the Orthodox Church, Dino and Debbie have helped establish Churches of Christ throughout Greece. They began with the Omonia congregation in downtown Athens, where Dino preached for many years. Most recently, they have helped plant a congregation in the Glyfada part of southern Athens, as well as one on the island of Crete.
Because of Greece’s central location in Europe, congregations have members from many different countries and speak many languages. The Omonia congregation holds services in Greek, Russian, English, and Bulgarian for its members from Greece, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Russia, Egypt, Philippines, and Ghana. A few of Omonia’s members have even returned to their own countries to preach after becoming Christians there. The church in Glyfada, which met in a hotel for 3 years, has been renting a facility since early 2012, just one block from a metro (subway) station. Sunday morning worship service is in Greek and Russian, and the Sunday evening service is in English and Farsi (the language spoken in Iran).
He preaches all over Europe, Russia, and at lectureships and universities in the USA. He is a well-known speaker and an accomplished author with works published in many languages.
Dino and Debbie have 3 grown children: Melody (& Andy) Feekes, Nikki (& Matt) Galley, and Stephen (& Caraline) Roussos, and a host of grandchildren.
