Made In The Streets in Nairobi, Kenya (Africa)

The mission of MADE IN THE STREETS (MITS) is to love and serve children from the streets of Nairobi, Kenya - loving them fully and equipping them to earn a living while meeting their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Since 1995, MITS has continued to learn and expand its impact. https://www.madeinthestreets.org

Team members daily walk the streets of Eastleigh and visit children living on the streets. MITS provides first aid, Bible study, food, games, counseling, and friendship. After months of consistently building trust, children become involved with programs at the Eastleigh Centre, where they can receive these services in a safe environment. Children who show a desire to leave the streets and change their lives are invited to join the MITS boarding school in Kamulu, where they receive:

  • Trauma Counseling: After living on the streets, MITS students have faced rejection, trauma, and a lack of self-worth. MITS provides dedicated programs for individual and group counseling.

  • Education and Vocational Training: MITS provides educational opportunities and vocational training to 175 homeless youth. Through this program, children are equipped with skills that will enable them to secure jobs and become self-sufficient.

  • Spiritual Formation: Through Bible classes, church, mentoring, and spiritual counseling, MITS focuses on helping students find their identity in Christ and know the love of God. Seeing them grow into young adults who trust the Lord and experience His love has been the foundational goal of MITS since its inception.

  • Employment and Community Success: After graduating, MITS alumni are men and women with a licensed skillset and exciting opportunities for employment. Through MITS, they are able to earn a living and become financially independent members of the community.
