Many smaller hispanic Churches of Christ (30-50 members) do not have Elders, nor a good process to raise leaders. To help with this challenge, Javier León began the “Avanza Líder” ministry in 2019 to foster Biblical leadership relevant to the church today. The hope is that every congregation will be able to have Elders that lead the church in healthy ways, and that leaders arise in every area of ministry to guide congregations to a fruitful relationship with God.

The areas of focus for achieving this goal: leadership development, coaching, mentoring, and equipping churches/individuals with fresh resources for a stronger spiritual life.

As of 2023, this ministry has been able to work with 18 different congregations in Venezuela, Colombia, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Mexico, and the United States. Amazing results and church growth are happening. Elderships are being established. Several preachers and other leaders are also continuing to do ongoing coaching and mentoring.

In addition to these efforts, “Expansion 20/30” was created as a ministry for people in their 20’s and 30’s. Javier and Karla have invested a lot of time providing young adults with different tools and challenging them to take their role in the Kingdom’s development! It’s exciting to see many of them getting involved.

A series of video lessons for small groups for these churches is also on the horizon. The goal is to produce 6 series of 4-5 episodes to provide churches with half a year of Bible lessons.
