Artash Andriasov in Rostov-on-Don, Russia
Artash was born in 1986 to Armenian parents, refugees who had fled to Azerbajan. As a child, his family moved several times between 3 different Republics of the former Soviet Union. They eventually settled in Komishen, Russia.
When Artash was 13, his family visited the Church of Christ at the invitation of a friend. Two years later, Artash became a Christian. As a teenager, Artash trained to be a tailor. He worked as a tailor, security guard, and DJ. He also began to seriously study the Bible and to preach, when given the opportunity. He studied with his mother and sister, who also became Christians.
In 2002, Artash moved to Syktofkar to study at the school of preaching. There he met Dub Hill (father of Prestoncrest member, Mary Beth Gallemore) who encouraged him in his preaching. On a school break, Artash attended the Russian Singing School in Rostov. There, he met Igor Egirev, who encouraged him to complete his schooling and to return to Rostov to work with the Church, where he served as the pulpit minister. Artash did return to Rostov and was active in teaching mid-week classes and working with young people.
When Igor left to take the job as president of ITCM (Institute of Theology and Christian Ministry) at the St. Petersburg Church of Christ, Artashwas asked to become the new pulpit minister in Rostov. Due to his younger age, Artash has influenced many young people to be a part of the congregation.
In addition to the new preacher, the Russian people have recently gained another reason to admire and trust the stability of the church. The city condemned the rented building where the congregation was worshipping, so they decided to buy a facility that seats 50 people.
