Phil Thompson was a member of Harding University’s College of Bible and Ministry faculty for 21 years, from 2001-2022.  Throughout his career at Harding, he served as the Director of the Center for Preaching and Assistant Director of the Kerusso Experience, a preaching and ministry camp for high school-aged students.  He taught courses in ethics, bioethics, preaching, and both Old and New Testaments. He has also been a keynote speaker three times for the Harding University Lectureship and two times for the Harding Preachers’ Conference.  He received Harding University’s Teacher Achievement Award in 2010.

Over a span of 46 years, Phil has served as preaching minister for churches in Virginia, Tennessee, and Arkansas.  He has been the preacher for the Rose Bud Church of Christ in Rose Bud, AR since 2007, and a shepherd-elder since 2016.  He has also participated in numerous short-term missions in India, Bangladesh, Russia, Kazakhstan, Czech Republic, Germany, Anguilla, and Jamaica.

Dr. Thompson holds a Bachelor’s degree in Bible from Harding University, Searcy, and also a Master of Theology, a Master of Arts in ethics, and a Doctor of Ministry in preaching, all from Harding School of Theology, Memphis.  In addition, he earned a Master of Arts in bioethics from Trinity International University.  Phil and his wife, Liz, have been married for 51 years, and have three grown children and four grandchildren.
